What Are Direct Swaps?

Swaps on THORSwap previously required a wallet connection first. Direct Swaps flip that model entirely, using a deposit-address flow instead of a wallet-connect flow.

This model presents a great UX improvement for a number of usecases:

• Easy Mobile swapping: scan a QR code and send from any mobile wallet in seconds

• Hardware wallets: sign using your device’s native app, without connecting it to a browser

• Shared or unfamiliar devices: no extensions to install, no wallets to import and no risk of leaving a wallet connected on a machine that isn’t yours

• Security and control: for the most security conscious users, your wallet is never connected to our interface at all.

Crucially, funds won’t be stranded mid-route. Every swap either reaches your destination address as per the quote (after fees+slippage), or returns automatically to your refund address.

How to Direct Swap on THORSwap:

Head to thorswap.finance, click “Direct Swap” or the new dedicated link from the swap tab, choose your pair, and enter your source and destination addresses.

Send from wherever your funds already live (ie. hardware wallet, or mobile app), and the rest happens automatically.

1. Visit THORSwap or Metro

2. Select swap pair and amount to preview a live quote (no wallet connection needed).

3. If the swap pair and recommended provider supports Direct Swaps, click the button to continue, otherwise it will link you to the new Direct Swap tab (bookmark or start here if you wish to only swap direct by default) for a refreshed quote with only Direct Swap enabled providers.

4. Provide a source address (where funds will be sent from and refunded if the swap can’t be filled), destination address (where your swapped funds should arrive).

NOTE: Send from self-custodial wallets only, sending from an exchange may result in failure or loss of funds.

5. Send the exact swap amount to a one-time deposit address, on the correct source chain, from any wallet. Or simply scan the provided QR code from your mobile wallet for an even faster flow.

6. The recommended cross-chain provider takes it from there. What fills, completes. What doesn’t, returns.

Essentially, there’s no browser extension to install, no signing prompt inside our interface, and no dApp connection required.

Supported Providers

Direct Swaps are currently live through three of our cross-chain providers: Chainflip, NEAR Intents and Flashnet, powered by SwapKit.

Each of these providers uses a validator or solver network to observe deposits and execute settlement natively on the destination chain. This means the same trading of native assets, not wrapped tokens, remaining non-custodial through out the trading process.
